Active/Inactive Well License List for December 2023

Here is the latest active and inactive well license list that comes from the most recent information from our public data feed. The latest data is from December for Alberta, November for BC and Saskatchewan and October for Manitoba.

The data in this report is sorted on the “BOE (boe/d) – Oct 2023” column.

The largest growth in Active Licenses is Pointbreak Resources with 85 new active well licenses.

The largest reduction in Inactive Licenses is Vermilion Energy with a reduction of 123. 

The largest increase in Active Licenses on a percents is also for Pointbreak Resources with a 1700% increase and the largest decrease for Inactive Licenses for a company with greater that 10 inactive licenses goes to Integrity Oil with a 40% reduction.

Just so you are aware, the gross active and inactive well license counts takes into account if an entity has a 100% ownership and also a minority partnership in the license. 

You can use this list to see who is potentially doing abandonments or who may be adding to their abandonment list.The picture above shows what a hydrojet cut and cap well looks like after we cut it.
